The model question (the part most comparisons miss)
Cursor is now sold as part of The X Subscription. Each paid plan includes a weekly pool for Cursor's own models, shared with Grok Chat, Imagine, Voice and Grok Bot. Third-party models such as Claude, GPT and Gemini aren't in the pool. On Premium and above you can use them from the first request at the model's API list price, paid from prepaid credit. Plus and Free don't get third-party models at all, and Plus runs at fixed settings: no Auto, Cloud Agents, Bugbot or your own API keys. Cursor models and pricing docs (opens in a new tab)
So if “Cursor with Claude” is what you're after, your realistic options are Cursor Premium plus prepaid credit, or Claude Code's extension inside Cursor, which Anthropic says your Pro or Max plan covers. Claude Help Center (opens in a new tab)
Older Cursor plans (Pro, Pro+, Ultra on the legacy pricing) keep working with two monthly pools and on-demand usage. Cursor docs (opens in a new tab)
Limits compared
Cursor: the pool refreshes weekly. When it runs out you can wait, keep going on prepaid credit at the listed per-model rates (for example Composer 2.5 at $0.50 input and $2.50 output per million tokens), or upgrade. Cursor says requests are never downgraded in quality or speed. Cursor docs (opens in a new tab)
Claude Code: Claude's Pro and Max plans both have a five-hour session limit plus a weekly limit, and they're shared between Claude chat and Claude Code. Claude Code with Pro/Max (Claude Help Center) (opens in a new tab) Past the limit, you can turn on usage credits at API rates, upgrade to Max, or wait for the reset.
