AI coding team plans in 2026: seat prices, minimums and a cost calculator

Last checked · sources linked per row · USD, excluding tax

Three cartoon developers with laptops buried under a wobbling tower of AI subscription cards.

TL;DR: Team plans for AI coding tools are priced per seat, and several have a seat minimum or separate seat types. As of 2026-10-17, the lowest listed paid team seat in our table is GitHub Copilot Business at “$19 USD per granted seat per month”, and Claude Team and ChatGPT Business both need at least 2 seats. Use the calculator below to see your team's monthly and annual cost with each vendor's minimums applied.

Seat-cost calculator

The AICoderClass seat-cost calculator adds up list prices for the AI coding tools your team pays for, applies each vendor's seat minimum, Devin Desktop's $80 monthly minimum and per-plan pricing for Replit and Lovable, and shows monthly and annual totals. It doesn't include usage beyond included credits, tax or Enterprise deals.

Seat minimums and seat limits

As of 2026-10-17, Claude Team needs at least 2 seats (maximum 150) and ChatGPT Business needs 2 or more users. A minimum means you're billed for that many seats even if fewer people use them. Cursor, GitHub Copilot, Kiro, v0 and Bolt list no seat minimum, Devin Desktop Teams has an $80 monthly account minimum instead, and Claude's self-serve Enterprise needs 20 seats billed annually.

Cursor doesn't publish a Teams minimum, but its business page says “Teams is a fit for engineering groups up to 25 people who want self-serve setup and credit card billing.” That's guidance, not a cap.

Standard vs premium seats: who needs which

Claude Team and Cursor Teams both let one team mix seat types, so heavy users can sit on a bigger seat while everyone else stays on the base one. Claude says “Mix and match seat types”, and its Premium seat gives “5x more usage than standard seats”.

Cursor's Teams seats are Premium, Super and Ultra, at “the same prices and weekly usage as the matching individual plans”. Super is “3.75x Premium” and Ultra “12.5x Premium”, and a Free seat is “$0/user/mo… no team usage allowance”. GitHub Copilot doesn't do seat types inside one plan: Business and Enterprise are separate plans (see below). On ChatGPT Business, OpenAI's page mentions a "Standard Business" seat but lists no other type, so we can't price a premium Codex seat. Pricing note: on Cursor each seat has its own weekly pool, while Copilot credits go into a shared pool. That's why mixing tiers matters on Cursor and matters less on Copilot.

The calculator's "heavy users" box uses this: it tries your heavy users on the top tier you picked and everyone else on the cheapest paid tier.

Is Claude Code (or Codex) included in a team seat?

Yes for Claude Code: on a Claude Team seat it shares the same usage pool as chat, with no fixed message count (checked 2026-10-17). Codex comes with ChatGPT Business, where a standard Business seat gets the same local-message estimates as ChatGPT Plus.

Claude puts the Team usage like this: “On Team plans, Standard seats give more than Pro and Premium seats give 5x more than Standard.” OpenAI says of its Codex estimates: “These estimates are not fixed message limits.” and “Weekly limits may also apply.” Both from claude.com/pricing and learn.chatgpt.com/docs/pricing.

GitHub Copilot Business vs Enterprise

On 2026-10-17, GitHub Copilot Business was $19 and Copilot Enterprise $39 per granted seat per month, with 1,900 and 3,900 AI credits per user per month going into a shared pool. Copilot Enterprise is for companies on GitHub Enterprise Cloud, and that seat price isn't on the same page.

Team plan vs individual plans: when the team plan costs more

A team plan mostly buys admin, central billing and data terms, not cheaper seats. As of 2026-10-17, a Cursor Teams seat costs the same as the matching individual plan, and Claude Team and ChatGPT Business both need at least 2 seats, so a team of one pays for two.

What the team versions add, in the vendors' words: Devin Desktop Teams “Centralized billing… Admin dashboard with analytics”; Bolt Teams “Centralized billing, Team-level access management”; v0 Business “Training opt-out by default”. Lovable Business adds SSO, role-based access and the security center. If nobody needs those, compare against individual plans in our Claude Code individual plans and limits and how Cursor's weekly pool works guides.

What a team seat price leaves out

A seat price on 2026-10-17 doesn't cover usage past the included pool, third-party model charges, add-on credits or tax. Each vendor bills extra usage differently, and none of it is in the calculator.

  • GitHub Copilot: usage beyond the pool “is charged at $0.01 USD per AI credit”.
  • Cursor: third-party models are “billed at public list API prices plus the Cursor Token Rate, paid from the team's prepaid balance”, and “The Cursor Token Rate is $0.25 per million tokens and is charged on third-party model requests.” (cursor.com/docs/account/teams/pricing, checked 2026-10-17 18:36 (UTC+2))
  • Kiro: “Add-on credits ($0.04/credit)”, opt-in per tier.
  • Devin Desktop: usage past a full seat's quota comes from on-demand credits, which on Teams “are shared across all members, with no per-member balance.” Flex seats use only those credits.
  • Claude Enterprise: “$20 per seat per month plus usage billed at API rates… billed annually”.
  • Tax: v0 says “All prices shown are in USD and exclude… VAT”; Kiro says “Prices are exclusive of applicable taxes”. Regional pricing: not listed when checked.

If a seat keeps running dry, see what to do when a seat hits its limit.

Devin Desktop (formerly Windsurf) and Antigravity team plans

Windsurf is now Devin Desktop (formerly Windsurf). As of 2026-10-17, Devin's billing docs price Teams at $40 a month per full seat with a $80 monthly account minimum, up to 200 members, so one full seat is $80 a month, two are $80, five are $200 and ten are $400. Google Antigravity (and Antigravity CLI) has no self-serve team price; the business plan goes through Google Cloud sales.

Devin's docs say “$80/month minimum: every Teams account pays at least $80/month.” and “When you have fewer than two full seats, the remainder of the $80 minimum is automatically charged as prepaid on-demand credits that the whole team can draw from.” Flex seats are “Free. There is no separate limit on flex seats, but every member (full or flex) counts toward the 200-user cap.” They “Do not include Devin Desktop access”. (docs.devin.ai/admin/billing/self-serve.md, checked 2026-10-17 18:36 (UTC+2))

Pricing conflict: Devin Teams: based on Devin's billing docs, which say $40 per full seat with an $80/month minimum (5 seats = $200). Devin's pricing page can be read as $80 + $40 per seat (5 seats = $280). Check your latest Devin invoice. (Keeper's note) The pricing page says “Teams $80 /month for team plan + $40/mo per full dev seat” (devin.ai/pricing, checked 2026-10-17 18:36 (UTC+2)), and the docs page itself says “For authoritative pricing, see the Devin pricing page. This page explains how the plans relate to each other and how billing mechanics work.” Under that reading, one full seat is $120 a month, two are $160, five are $280 and ten are $480. The calculator uses the docs and shows the higher figure next to any total or saving that includes Devin.

Google's page says “Business plan via Google Cloud… Contact Sales”, so it shows as "contact sales" in our table. More in Devin Desktop (formerly Windsurf) alternatives.

FAQ

What is the minimum number of users for a Claude Team plan?

Claude's pricing page lists Team “For teams of 2 to 150”, so it's 2 seats minimum and 150 maximum (checked 2026-10-17). The self-serve Enterprise plan is different: “US$20/seat/month, billed annually, 20 seat minimum. Usage cost scales with model and task.” claude.com/pricing

Does the Claude Team plan include Claude Code?

Yes. On Team seats Claude Code uses the same usage pool as chat, and there's no fixed message count. Claude puts it this way: “On Team plans, Standard seats give more than Pro and Premium seats give 5x more than Standard.” (checked 2026-10-17) claude.com/pricing

What's the difference between GitHub Copilot Business and Enterprise?

Copilot Business is “$19 USD per granted seat per month” with 1,900 AI credits per user per month, and Copilot Enterprise is “$39 USD per granted seat per month” with 3,900. Credits go into a shared pool, and Enterprise is “Designed for enterprises using GitHub Enterprise Cloud”, whose price isn't on that page (checked 2026-10-17). docs.github.com/en/copilot/get-started/plans

How much does ChatGPT Business cost per user, and is there a seat minimum?

OpenAI lists “Business… $20 / user / month*… *2+ users, billed annually. $25 per user per month when billed monthly.” So you need at least 2 users (checked 2026-10-17). learn.chatgpt.com/docs/pricing

How much is Cursor for teams, and can you mix seat tiers?

Cursor's docs say “Teams is priced per seat, and each seat is Premium ($30/user/mo), Super ($100/user/mo), or Ultra ($200/user/mo), the same prices and weekly usage as the matching individual plans.” You can mix tiers on one team, and add Free seats. Older teams keep the legacy names: “Teams created before The X Subscription use Standard ($40/user/mo) and Premium ($120/user/mo) seats.” Legacy and new seats use different usage models, so they don't map one to one (checked 2026-10-17). cursor.com/docs/account/teams/pricing

Is a team plan worth it compared with individual plans?

It depends what you need beyond the seat. Cursor Teams seats come at “the same prices and weekly usage as the matching individual plans”, and Teams is “a fit for engineering groups up to 25 people who want self-serve setup and credit card billing”. Devin Desktop Teams adds “Centralized billing… Admin dashboard with analytics”. v0 Business adds “Training opt-out by default”. A Claude Team Standard seat gives "more usage than Pro" per Claude, and a standard ChatGPT Business seat has the same message estimates as Plus (checked 2026-10-17).

What does a premium seat include?

On Claude Team, “Premium seat 5x more usage than standard seats”. On Cursor Teams, Super is “3.75x Premium” and Ultra is “12.5x Premium” in weekly usage. OpenAI's page mentions a "Standard Business" seat but lists no other Business seat type, so a Codex premium seat price is not listed when checked (2026-10-17).

What happened to Windsurf Teams pricing?

Windsurf is now Devin Desktop (formerly Windsurf). Devin's billing docs say “$80/month minimum: every Teams account pays at least $80/month.” and a full seat is “$40/month per seat, billed as a fixed recurring line item.” So one full seat is $80 a month, two are $80, five are $200 and ten are $400. Its pricing page says “Teams $80 /month for team plan + $40/mo per full dev seat”, which can be read as one full seat is $120 a month, two are $160, five are $280 and ten are $480; check your latest Devin invoice (checked 2026-10-17 18:36 (UTC+2)). docs.devin.ai/admin/billing/self-serve.md · devin.ai/pricing
